So Far is a collection of paintings I’ve completed from the fall through the spring from Cape Cod to Iowa. The work is on view in Main Frame Studios’ second floor gallery from First Friday in June through 6/26. This show is part of their “Iowa Artists” theme, celebrating artists living and working in Iowa.

This two-week workshop retreat focuses on capturing the amazing natural beauty of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Under the guidance of local artist/educator Anne Tochka and old favorite Iliya Mirochnik, students will have the opportunity to develop plein air and drawing skills in an inspiring setting, and enjoy the luscious experience of summer on the cape.

Plein air painting is painting “in the open air” with the aim of capturing the true atmosphere, light quality, and color notes of a scene. I start most of my paintings in this manner because I love being outdoors and am privileged to have access to many beautiful places.
With the amount of time I spend in nature, I’m hugely interested in environmental conservation and wildlife preservation. One of my main goals in my work is to convey appreciation for this incredible earth we all live on.
